harvey milk plaza
As a reflection of Harvey Milk's influence in the
queer community, the Harvey Milk Plaza is designed
as a procession for visibility and unity. The Castro
district houses this floating platform where anybody
can be seen if they want to be seen and anybody can
be heard if they want to be heard. This project was
designed for AIA's Harvey Milk Plaza competition in
2017.

PROTECTION AND VISIBILITY
The hovering path acts as a canopy to cover people from the elements as they enter and exit the MUNI station. The underside is covered in tessellating, reflective panels to project toward Market Street the celebrated diversity and imagery that is associated with the Castro district.
